Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner, support and collaborate with management in designing, implementing, evaluating and managing assigned projects. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed timeframe and budget.
  • Fundraising analysis and strategies. Create and plan different projects that can generate donations. Build organization’s financial support base via events, campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, etc, from a wide range of funding sources including individuals, foundations, government, corporations, and churches,etc.
  • Build a growing and effective project team through recruitment, professional management and development, coaching, mentorship, and motivational leadership, and create an environment that cultivates an organization-wide culture of management, development and philanthropy.
  • Team management and leadership. Work collaboratively with management and leadership teams, volunteer leadership, and donor prospects to ensure effective implementation of Deng Fei Foundation’s mission, vision, and impact.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, responsible for designing and executing a sustainable project management strategy consistent with Deng Fei Foundation’s strategic goals, including short and long-term growth goals for each member of the team, including yourself.
  • Manage relationship throughout project lifecycle. Successfully manage the relationship with the donors, internal teams and external partners, rural schools in China and African countries, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze data gathered and provide analytical assistance to evaluate the project practices and controls in order to determine whether project requirements are achieved in an effective manner while managing risks to the organization.
  • Create and update project reports to management, board, potential funders, and other stakeholders, informing project health in terms of budget, milestones reached, and work completed.
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities and procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Travel to assist in management of complex national and overseas projects. Work closely with local operation teams and external partners to support“Free Lunch for Children International” (FLFCI) program in China, Africa and other countries worldwide.
  • Attend conferences, events, forums and training as required to maintain proficiency.

Education/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with one year of relevant experience on NGO or nonprofit project management is required
  • At least 2 years of working experience in NGOs or nonprofits.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • National/International project management experience for an NGO or a nonprofit is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis methods.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to work successfully in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in Chinese Mandarin and English proficiently.
  • Authentic passion for the work, mission, and impact of Deng Fei Foundation.
  • US work authorization is required (including OPT).

Financial Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Finance and budgeting
    • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs;
    • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards;
    • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences;
    • Prepare adjusting journal entries;
    • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts;
    • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice;
    • Develop, implement, modify, and document record keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology;
    • Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Fund management for internal and external child development programs
    • Develop appropriate funding vehicles including grants, donations, loans, blended finance, guarantees, project financing, etc. for product and service providers that fight child hunger in Africa and other developing regions;
    • Evaluate funding proposals submitted from schools and child health care programs to ensure the organization has sufficient cash flow to fund and support;
    • Monitor and evaluate financial positions of each program to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and transparency of the use of funds.

Education/Requirements:

  • A strong proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Familiar with commercial finance applications such as QuickBooks;
  • Experience in Tableau, SQL or Python digital platforms referred;
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related statistical concentrations; master’s degree would be a plus;
  • 2 years of accounting and finance experience preferred.

Fundraising Project Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with Foundation leadership to develop fund-raising strategies and projects
Analyzes data looking for opportunities and assists with the development of new fundraising opportunities
Assists in implementing initiatives and projects necessary to achieve the fundraising priorities
Adheres to Foundation expectations for the reporting and documentation of fundraising metrics
Seeks and establishes cooperation with external partnerships including corporate firms, international organizations, academics and media
Provides a high level of service to internal groups of the foundation including volunteers, board members, foundation leadership and colleagues
Performs other appropriate duties as necessary

Education/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 1 years of working experience in NGO or fundraising operations
Excellent project management and communication skills
National/International fundraising experience for a NGO or foundation strongly referred
Flexibility and proven ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, particularly the ability to prioritize

 Social Media Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages day-to-day Deng Fei Foundation’s all social media and digital platforms
Develops and manages social media campaigns and strategies for various aspects of the Foundation including the official account on Facebook, Twitter, website etc
Writes editorial content in the form of news stories, photo galleries, videos, and blogs
Effectively utilizes a budget for social media advertising to target current and potential readers and drive traffic to our site
Responds promptly to comments and requests on the website and through social media channels
Coordinates with foundation colleagues’ work and fundraising events for all digital content, including video, photography, and social media integration
Monitors and collects data across all channels for in-depth analysis and reporting purposes, ensuring the efficacy and optimization of content distribution, and making continuous improvements as needed
Performs other public relations duties as requested

Education/Requirements:
Bachelor degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Marketing, Advertising, Computer science preferred
Experience with social media maintenance and management including Wechat and Facebook official account, website, Weibo etc
Experience with marketing, communications to drive awareness, impact, and reader engagement
Ability to navigate the creative and analytical sides of social media
Creativity required – graphic design experience is a plus.

 Research Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts background research and report on child hunger in Africa and China
Designs survey to collect and analyze data for impact evaluation of the Free Lunch for Children Program
Summarizes project results and prepare foundation’s annual report
Prepares impact report for foundation’s program such as Roadshow for Good
Prepares other reports and presentation per request
Identifies and compiles lists of potential research subjects in accordance with foundation’s work

Education/Requirements:
A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Social Science, International Development or other related subject is required
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research and data collection methods
Experience with or knowledge of survey design
Ability to research, analyze, synthesize, and format information
Experience with research and writing impact evaluation report
Strong writing, analyzing, editing skills are required
